Manage Marriage Like a Small Business; Says ‘Spousonomics’, a Unique Book on Marriage Advice

Every one has advice for those facing marriage conflicts. Do things together, be more patient, communicate with your partner or don't go to bed angry is some of the most common marriage advice given out. According to American Author Paula Szuchman however, it is the economic strategies are much better suited for modem couples than old home spun marriage advice.

In her latest book, 'Spousonomics: Using Economics to Master Love, Marriage and Dirty Dishes," the author offers some unusual views of managing a modern marriage. Taking her views from the world of economics, and comparing marriage to running a business, the author draws some interesting parallels between the two.

"A large part of marriage is business. It is doing housework, dealing with kids. There are no romantic solutions for unromantic situations" Szuchman says.

"Solutions appear when you look at marriage as a small business," she adds and goes on to explain how one should view the partner as people with finite resources, which must be allocated efficiently. She also touches topics like division of labor according to each partner's skill.
